What are the advantages of getting an education in the US?

The country of unlimited possibilities, the American dream, and democracy can opento you, too. But to understand how, you need to spend at least a month studying in it.

The quality of education and amount of opportunities provided by American schools, colleges, and universities are some of the highest in the world. If you look at the ratings, you can see that American schools consistently place at the very top. These standings also give graduates anadvantage in applying for and successfully landing enviable jobs. On top of that, the top schools’ graduates tend to earn higher wages. And another thing to not take lightly -- and something you can call an advantage of American education -- is that America is a welcoming, diverse country. It is full of immigrants, which means students are not judged by their skin color or the shape of their eyes. American education is very flexible. It gives students the opportunity to select programs that fit their interests. It also promotes the “transfer” system – they can go from one university to another easily, and many people take advantage of this.

This is how the educational system in the US breaks down:

-  Kindergarten (4-5 years old)

-  Primary/Elementary school (6-10 years old, grades 1-5)

-  Secondary/Middle School (11-13 years old, grades 6-8)

-  High school (14-18 years old, grades 9-12)

-  Universities, colleges, religious places of learning, and other types of academic institutions last from 2 to 4 years.

To enter a university or college in the US as an international student, you have to pass the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. It determines your English language skill level. This test is required in colleges in over 130 countries for students who have not studied in English.
